Respect Your Elders

Currently enjoying some good ol’ fashioned Sunday afternoon quality time with one of our all-time favourite independent record labels Sarah Records.

Based in Bristol and active 1987-1995, they deployed a strict DIY approach and a firmly defined aesthetic. Their releases included a mix of 7s, 10s, 12s, fanzines, flexi-discs, and even a board game (featuring Alan McGee as a playing piece no less).

Their releases included the aural delights from a veritable feast of indie pop janglers including Sea Urchins (the first release for the label infact), The Field Mice, The Orchids and Another Sunny Day. A number of which were staples on many a Warmest Chord generated playlist over the years.

This “A Day For Destroying Things” advert (featured in the NME and Melody Maker) announced that their 100th release would be their last. A perfect example of short but very very sweet.
